Got to Lexington, KY yesterday at about 5:30, in time to beat sunset, which was my goal since I hate driving in the dark.
Felt bad about intruding on the McCoy's Thanksgiving but they were very gracious and hospitable. We shared many memories of Rev. Thomas McCoy, who had been the one to invite me on this trip, and his vision for this mission. We left the house past 10:30, almost an hour and a half later than ETD. While the 7 of us girls were chatting and snacking in the trailer we suddenly hear a loud POP! Its 12 pm and we were barely an hour on the road with a blown tire. Forced to "limp" to the next truck stop to get fixed up. Spent 1st hr driving, 2nd hr finding a place to get tire fixed. In the middle of getting tire replaced we discovered that the water pump no longer worked. So... no bathroom use at all. Which means we might have to make more frequent stops. :/ Our first destination is Fouke, Arkansas, after we pick up a boy in Nashville. Hopefully, no more incidents! We arrived in Nashville with no surprises, picked up a bit named Aaron, loaded up on propane, I got some "healthy" snacks, and made good time on the road. One of the girls downloaded the game of Life on her iPad to pass the time. We stopped to get a bite to eat at Cracker Barrel at 7 where I got some awesome pecan crusted catfish! The next stretch was from Jackson, TN to Little Rock, AR where we met a truck carrying a ton of candy for us to transport to Donna. Woke up from my nap hungry, so I pulled out a fruit cup while the candy was loading.
