Maybe you haven't thought about what your life will be like 10 years from now.
But what about in 5 years?
Do you fret or worry about what you may or may not have in the next few months? Does your list look something like this?
- What if I don't have enough credits to graduate?
- What if no one wants to hire me?
- Am I outgoing enough to get the attention of the "popular crowd?
- Will I ever get the funds I need for college?
The Bible has some encouraging words for us.
But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19
What about when it comes to guys? Many girls fret and struggle over this area. It's a very hard thing to get over.
Have you been longing for a boyfriend because you're worried you'll be alone? Maybe you're afraid others will tease you or make fun of you because you don't have a boyfriend.
Or do you feel that you're unlovable?
Does your list include one or all of these?
- What if I'm the only one at school who has never had a boyfriend or gone on a date?
- Will I ever be pretty enough to get a guy's attention?
- I'm afraid I'll end up with a loser...
- I've made so many mistakes already. Will anyone even want me?
- Does God even care that I'm alone?
My friend, I'm here to tell you that you're not alone and God does care. I'm not the best example out there but I'll give you my short story...
I'll be 27 this year and I've never had a boyfriend. Never. I've never been kissed. Ever. Have I ever felt lonely? Oh yes.
But let me tell you what loneliness means to me. Loneliness is a call for me to draw closer to God and not to have a pity party. There have been many times that I've dumbed the "feelings" of loneliness at the feet of my Savior and asked Him to wrap me in His embrace.
Oh, what sweet assurance and tender love I felt!
I knew that if I went searching to receive that from a man I would be disappointed after a tie and left only with sorrow and regret.
I wait for the LORD, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope.
You see, love has become so cheap in our society. Appreciation for it's value has become so lost. It's hard to tell now when or if we truly love someone. We say things like:
- I love pizza!
- I'm in love with my new phone.
- I just love your outfit!
Then we long to hear a guy tell us, "I love you", and believe that all our hopes and dreams will forever be fulfilled!
Girls, there is a man out there for you that will truly mean those words but learn to fully trust God for contentment. Take your list of frets and worries before God.
Let Him handle it.
Let Him hold you and comfort you.
Fret no more.
Take notice of the regrets of those around you and older than you and strive to avoid them.
Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
