Enough Or Everything

Flashback to GEM's very first Bible Study...
Introduction

Why do we have Bible Study? Let's look in the Bible Itself for some reasons...

Psalm 119:11 – “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.”

1)   To have His Word (hide it in our hearts)

2)   To know His Word - So that it will keep us from sin

Psalm 119:105 -  Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

Without His Word to light our way, we are likely to stumble and fall.

What is God to you?

To some He is... like a daily vitamin - receiving 1 or 2 routine intakes of Him (as needed)

To many He is... a curse word

To others He is... a lucky charm -  something to keep handy in case of bad luck

Or a ... dictator of another religion

To all He should be... A lifeline

Philippians 4:19 - But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Is God your “Backup” or “Lifeline”?

Backup?

· Definition: someone who takes the place of another

Lifeline?

· Definition: support that enables people to survive or to continue doing something (often by providing an essential connection)

To experiment, why don't you take a deep breath, and hold it. Hold it. Hold it. For 15 minutes! No? Why not? You should have plenty of air in you. But only to last for a few moments, right? Why? What was enough for that moment wasn’t enough

Isn’t that how we treat God?  We take or accept what is needed... for the moment

He is Enough… for the moment. He is Enough… to survive

Do you know when YOU go beyond surviving to actually living as a Christian?

When God becomes your Lifeline. When He is your absolute reliance to live

When the God that is Enough becomes Everything

When God becomes your Everything, everything changes!
Your view changes, your attitude changes, your everything changes.
Let's look at David as an example. God's Word was his life source. He was always found reading, writing, or singing God's Word. Is it no surprise that he became Israel's hero? His well-known story took place because He made God Everything. The smooth stones were not enough. If that were the case, anyone else could've been the hero.

David isn't known for merely being a survivor. He is known for being a conqueror. He went beyond "enough". Because he had faith in his Lifeline - his EVERYTHING - he conquered.

What will YOU be known for? Will God be known as your Everything, or only an extra support when needed?

Make your choice today.
