We are raising a generation who believes more in magic than in miracles. It is a generation who believes more in fairy tales than in faith.
We are urged to believe in a world of fantasy than in a Father Who created the world.
In the Gospels, we read of wonders done by Christ and His followers. As the desert was dotted by thousands who listened to His teaching, He didn't sprinkle them with pixie dust or wave a magic wand for a feast to appear. He performed a miracle. A miracle which is produced by faith and dependency on the Father. (Mark 6:32-44)
Yet, the disciples soon forgot this wonder they had witnessed when they again thought they were capable of fulfilling such needs on their own. (vs. 52)
Magic may seem harmless for the imagination but when it slowly breaks down the foundation of faith it can mean destruction for the soul.
A fantasized love may seem harmless for the heart but when the sacrifice of self never takes place the shattered pieces of broken relationships lie in the dust.
How much greater to know that your child believes in a God to part a sea than in a fairy who waves a dusty stick?
... Do ye now believe? - John 16:31
