Are those worry lines furrowing your brow? Has the brightness of your smile grown dim? What is making the joy in your heart to lose its power? Could it be that you have been visited by the greatest stealer of our joy (a.k.a. "the Joy Thief")? Worry is not only fruitless, but it steals our joy. We are often guilty of spending so much time worrying over so many things that our out of our control. Yet, the act of worrying itself will not cure or resolve anything. It only takes away from the joy and contentment we are entitled to have during our trying circumstances and troubles. There is good news; there IS an essential cure for worry - prayer. Through prayer our trust is renewed in God's faithfulness (Matthew 6:25-34). He invites us to cast ALL of our anxieties and problems on Him, because He cares (1 Peter 5:7). Through prayer we receive the peace of God, which comes to guard our hearts and minds (Philippians 4:6-7). Through prayer we receive the strength needed to do what is required of us to do (Philippians 4:13). Through prayer we can rest assured that God does work all things for our good (Philippians 4:11). Do not let fear and worry bind you with their relentless shackles but bring yourself before the God of peace and hope. Give Him your troubles and sorrows. Restore your joy.
